The general objective of PASME 1 and 2 projects is to strengthen the health system to improve the conditions of care for simple and complicated deliveries in the regions of Louga, Kolda and Sedhiou, in order to reduce the maternal and neonatal mortality rate.
*Improve the effectiveness and quality of services at the level of health facilities, and increase the number of simple deliveries supported by qualified personnel, by strengthening the human resources and medical equipment of the targeted structures.
*Strengthen the provision of care to enable the appropriate management of obstetric emergencies, through a vast investment and equipment program: it will create reference health structures in districts that did not have any and to raise the quality of the technical platform of hospitals and health centers already established. This program will focus on maternity, pediatric and emergency services.
*Increase the capacity of the management teams (national and regional) to steer the process.
