About the organisation
Basic details : EUROCAT Northern Netherlands is a research group and population-based congenital anomaly registry, which is part of the Genetics Department of the University Medical Center Groningen in the Netherlands. EUROCAT Northern Netherlands is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports. We collect data on children born with congenital anomalies whose mothers are residing in the three northern provinces of the Netherlands.
Mission : The ultimate aim of EUROCAT Northern Netherlands is to prevent the occurence of congenital anomalies through research. In addition, we provide epidemiologic information on congenital anomalies, facilitate early warning of new teratogenic exposures, evaluate the effectiveness of primary prevention, assess the impact of developments in prenatal screening and act as an information and resource center on congenital anomalies.
Vision : EUROCAT Northern Netherlands collects accurate data on congenital anomalies and risk factors for scientific research and is member of the European EUROCAT network and the world-wide ICBDSR network.
