The problem is that those who possess the knowledge are too often cut off from each other. The Synergist is not-for-profit organisation that acts as an incubator for the most relevant players on any given issue.
In 2007 the maternal mortality rate was atrociously high. World leaders needed to step up, rally around the issue and commit to action. And, they needed a place to do it. To fill the void, the Women Deliver Conference was born. In 2014, the organization began a transition of leadership and brought on CEO Katja Iversen, and experienced substantial growth in staff and scope. Today, Women Deliver is recognized as a key player and advocate for gender equality and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women.
MAR is a Brussels-based non-profit founded by a group of people determined to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable and marginalized mothers in the developing world. Since 2009, volunteers from diverse backgrounds have been working to reduce the staggering number of women and girls who die each year in childbirth or from pregnancy-related complications. As maternal health advocates, we are fighting for the right to quality, respectful maternal health care for all women, and to end maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
