We support development processes that safeguard and promote the right to health with a global approach, working on health needs and influencing socio-economic factors, identifying poverty as the main cause for the lack of health. We focus on the poorest people and work in the most disadvantaged areas of the world, with the help and collaboration of individuals and communities in Italy and disadvantaged countries. We work via international cooperation projects in the health sector; Education programs for global citizenship and health promotion; Support to fair policies; Measures to protect migrants and nomads health. We are an association, in which staff and volunteers, qualified and passionate, work every day to promote the right to health. We believe that focusing on human resources is a successful strategy to move towards a real, sustainable and shared change with local communities. The transfer and strengthening of knowledge and skills is the way we promote the right to health and ensure an independent and sustainable future. We aim to strengthen public health systems, as the only institutions able to guarantee universal access to health care, counteract inequalities and improve general population's health. Thus, we supporting them through funding, coordination, management, monitoring and evaluation of services provided. Where necessary, when threatened by particular situations, such as political or humanitarian crises, we directly contribute to delivering essential services, from vaccinations to surgical activities. We select contexts, actors, themes, goals and appropriate technologies to implement interventions that generate real positive changes. We involve local communities to spread reliable health information and promote a conscious and universal access to health services. Our scalable and replicable approach is based on theoretical and operational models perceiving health as general well-being and acting on all its determinants: socio-economic factors and lifestyles, environment and access to health services. To pursue our goals, we research synergies and start forms of co-operation with associations, institutions, foundations and companies, in a perspective of convergence and common development. We are deeply convinced that enjoying the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health is a fundamental human right, that processes of change are viable and effective only if pursued by all parties involved and that good health is not just healthcare but a general status of well-being.We base our work in Africa and Italy on some key elements, such as participation, capacity building, synergies, innovation, suitability and sustainability of our actions. We are engaged in building strong and long-lasting partnerships, which place the groups, communities and institutions benefiting from our actions at the centre. We carry out activities that strengthen the skill-set and capacities of people and organizations through the promotion and sharing of tools and resources that improve health in their communities. We work in partnership with non-profit organizations, public institutions, universities, companies and associations by converging experiences and skills from different sectors and addressing health issues and inequalities globally. Through the networks we are part of, we also carry out advocacy to encourage policy makers and institutions to implement policies and strategies aiming for global health rights.
